Introduction: Cheap Cowbell Mute
Instructions on how to make a cheap cowbell mute for less than pennies!
Step 1: Components
What you will need to create the mute.
Step 2: Preparing the Tube
This tube could be either insulation cable or you could just strip it from an old wire that is no longer needed. You need to make a clear slice along the tube for later.
Step 3: Adding to the Cowbell
In this step you will add the rubber tubing to the edge of the cowbell, you need to slip it over the edge and it is worth testing to find out what works best for you, you may want to stretch the tubing to reduce the sound reverberating even more. Cut the pipe to length.
Step 4: Gluing the Mute in Place
If you are a heavy drummer you may want to glue the mute in place or it may slip off. when you are gluing it in place, try to have the joining seem in a straight section or you may find that gluing it may be a problem and it may tear away after some playing.
Step 5: Complete
Your cowbell should now be complete, if you find that the mute becomes un-stuck you may want to add more glue to the edges for safe measure. Please give comments as i would like to hear from you if you have any other plans or ideas.
