Introduction: Cheap & Personal Wooden Laptop Stand
So I was searching for a laptop stand for my new macbook and when I went to the store I was shocked about the prices! 40 euros for a laptop stand was exaggerated so I decided to make my own.
At the time of making this I had a summer job in a hardware store so I asked if I could use some wood waste. I paid 5 cents for al the wood I needed!
So, let's get started!
Step 1: Sketching + Cutting
As you can see in the pictures I made a easy plan, just 4 wooden boards which I glued together.
The dimensions I used are perfect for a macbook retina, so if you are planning to make this for a macebook retina, here you go!
When the wooden boards were cut I took some sandpaper to refine the edges, I recommend to do the same.
Step 2: Personalisation
Because I wanted to make something unique I decided to drill holes in a form, I took the Apple logo.
The effect is nicer than I expected, on the sides I drilled some extra holes. Just to make it more refined.
Caution, you must drill in the right direction! i.e. from the outside to the inside of the board. Otherwise you are going to damage the outside of your wood and get ugly holes.
Step 3: Glue It!
Now just glue all together and depending on your type of glue you will have to let it dry. I let it dry overnight.
Step 4: Done!
And voila, now you have your own personal and cheap laptop stand!
The space in the stand is perfect for storing your chargers! So everything is clean.
If you have remarks of questions, just ask!
If you have found some language mistakes, just tell me! I'm not a native english speaker.

@dsantil: yes, I have also thought about it and because I have a retina model my cooling is different. the cooling parts aren't covered but if you have an other model I suggest to keep this in mind.

It's nice. However I wasn't sure if the holes you drilled for the Apple logo were enough for good air flow for the laptop fan. You do not want to block airflow to the fan on your laptop. This will keep your laptop from over heating & increase it's life span! 2 suggestions for this - 1, (easy) drill extra holes where the fan is, 2 - (harder) redesign or modify the laptop stand by adding small shims or blocks to the front & back for the laptop to be on. It's a very nice looking stand. I really like. Awesome recycling & money saving too.

Two ways to keep from getting those ugly holes blowing out the back. First is to always make sure the drill bit is sharp. Second is to clamp some scrap board behind when the hole is coming through and drill into it. The scrap will support it and keep from tearing out as bad. Good luck on future projects.
