Introduction: Cheddar Bacon Biscuits

About: I am a freshman at Centaurus High School. I love basketball, and hope to go to Kansas State for basketball.

We got the recipe after we bought the cast iron skillet in Dodge City, Kansas. After you try these biscuits you will be saying yee-hah!

Step 1: Ingredients

2 cups all-purpose flour

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/4 teaspoon baking soda

2 teaspoons sugar

1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar

1/2 cup butter, margarine or shortening

1-1/4 cup buttermilk

1/2 cup of shredded cheese

Optional:

Put a pinch of bacon bits into the batter

Step 2: Directions: Step 1

1. In a bowl, stir dry ingredients together.

Add Cheese into the dry ingredients as well.

Step 3: Directions: Step 2

Cut in butter, margarine or shortening to coarse crumb stage.

Step 4: Directions: Step 3

Add buttermilk. Stir until just blended.

Step 5: Directions: Step 4

Drop dough into the cast iron skillet. Fill quite full.

Put a little bit of cooking oil on the bottom of the pan. Add Bacon Bits and Cheese at the bottom of the cast iron skillet. Put some Bacon Bits and Cheese on top as well before you put in the oven.

Step 6: Directions: Step 5

Bake 15-18 minutes in 450 degree oven. Serve warm.

Step 7: Enjoy!!!
