Yummy chocolate bird nests. Use them as a cake or cupcake topper filled with candy or just a cute snack for the kids.

Things needed:

Shredded Wheat cereal

Milk chocolate chips

Shredded coconut

No-Stick cooling spray

Bowl or muffin tin

Step 1: Break Apart Cereal

Break up 3 Shredded Wheat Big Biscuit cereal into a large bowl.

Step 2: Add Coconut

Add some shredded coconut. Use as much as you like or leave it out.

Step 3: Prep Bowl

Spray a bowl or muffin tins with non stick cooking spray.

Step 4: Melt Chocolate

Melt about 3/4 cup of milk chocolate chips in a microwave safe measuring cup. Microwave until the chips are just melted.

Step 5: Add Chocolate

Add the chocolate slowly into the shredded wheat. Use enough to completely cover the cereal. Mix it together with your hands. Then lick the chocolate off your hands :)

Step 6: Form Nest

Put some of the mixture in your prepared bowl or muffin tins. Use your hands to form it into a nest shape. Put them in the freezer for about 15 mins.

Step 7: Pop Them Out of Your Pan

Pop them out of your bowl or tin. You may have to give it a little bang on the table. Then fill them with candy and use them as cake or cupcake toppers. Or just eat them!

You could use these as bowls to serve a lot of different spring deserts.

Looks great. This could be a fun way of making an Easter basket for my kids. Thanks for the idea.
