Introduction: Chocolate Honey Glazed Peanut Butter Pie

About: Computer Science, Technology & Engineering, and Mathematics High School Teacher

Do you like chocolate?

Yup.

Do you like peanut butter?

Sure do.

Do you like pie?

My wife does not, but she loves this pie.

Supplies

Pie Ingredients

  • Chocolate Graham Cracker Crust
  • 1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 4 oz. Cream Cheese -softened
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 8 oz. Whipped Cream

Chocolate Honey Glaze Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2 teaspoons Honey

Step 1: Gather Those Ingredients

The title of the step says it all. Collect all of those ingredients and take a picture of them next to a comically large bag of powdered sugar.

Pie Ingredients

  • Chocolate Graham Cracker Crust
  • 1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 4 oz. Cream Cheese -softened
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 8 oz. Whipped Cream

Chocolate Honey Glaze Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2 teaspoons Honey

Step 2: Make Some Filling

New Ingredients Needed in this Step

  • 1/2 cup Creamy Peanut Butter
  • 4 oz. Cream Cheese -softened
  • 1 cup Powdered Sugar

Steps

  • Beat the cream cheese, peanut butter, and powdered sugar until very smooth.
  • That is it. Move on.

Step 3: Folding Time

New Ingredients Needed in this Step

  • 8 oz Whipped Cream

Steps

  • Fold the whipped cream into the peanut butter mush you made in the last step. I tried to cheat and use a dough hook.......it did not work......just fold the whipped cream into the mixture.

How do I fold?

  • Very carefully...not really. Just use a rubber scraper and bring the bottom ingredients to the top. Really, if you would just mix here with the rubber scraper you would be fine. You will be able to tell when it is blended by watching the color of the whipped cream. Folding just sounds fancier....it is what Fancy Nancy would do.

Step 4: Fill That Pie

New Ingredients Needed in this Step

  • Chocolate Graham Cracker Crust

Steps

  • Dump that delicious pie filling into that pie crust.
  • Smooth out the topping so that it fills out the pie evenly.
  • This is where you can show off your mad swirling skillz (with a "z") on the top of the pie, which sadly will never be seen by anyone except you, because you are going to coat that pie with a honey chocolate glaze next. But you will know it is there....just like when your mom used to make the smiley face PB&J sandwiches....the smile may be be gone when you close the sandwich, but you both know it was there....or she lied to you all those years....

Step 5: Chill It

New Ingredients Needed in this Step

  • None

Steps

  • Nicely chuck that pie into the freezer. Just find some room. Yup, right there on top of the chicken nuggets will do just great. Leave the pie in there to meet its new friends until you pour molten chocolate on it in the near future. Not really a time limit here, just cool until the chocolate topping is ready.

Step 6: Honey Chocolate Glaze

New Ingredients Needed in this Step

  • 1/2 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips
  • 1/4 cup Unsalted Butter
  • 2 teaspoons Honey

Steps

  • Melt/blend the honey, chocolate chips, and butter in a double boiler until smooth and delicious.

Double Boiler

  • You may ask, "How can I do this when I do not own a fancy double boiler?" Well, neither do I. Put some water in a pot and find a pan that can sit on it. Ta-da!!! Now you are fancy and more thrifty than those double boiler owners.

Step 7: Molten Chocolate Time

New Ingredients Needed in this Step

  • None

Steps

  • Separate that pie from its newly formed frozen friends and pour the melted honey chocolate glaze on top of it.
  • Smooth out the glaze so there are no parts of the pie uncovered with chocolate. Your swirling skillz are here to stay this time for all to see.

Step 8: Reunited......Briefly

Add the pie back to its rightful place, nuzzled up to its chicken nugget freezer friend to solidify that chocolate. Chill the pie for about 20 minutes before tearing the frozen chicken nuggets from the pie for the last time. Move that pie to meet its new friends in the refrigerator until you are ready to eat the pie. I placed my pie next to my leftover chicken nuggets from last night's dinner, just for continuity (full circle).

Step 9: Eat

Chill until ready to eat.
