Introduction: Cinnamon Apple Rings

For this recipe you are going to need:

4-6 Gala apples

1 c all-purpose flour

2 tbsp sugar

1/4 tsp cinnamon

1 c buttermilk

1 egg, beaten

1/4 tsp salt

1/4 tsp baking powder

(for the cinnamon sugar topping, you will need an additional 1/4 c sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon)

Step 1: Mixing the Dry Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, cinnamon and sugar.

Step 2: In Another Mixing Bowl...

Combine the egg and buttermilk together thoroughly.

Step 3: Slicing

Slice your apples, I used my mandoline to make the job super easy.

Step 4: Core the Apples

Using a small biscuit cutter, core the apples.

Step 5: Batter Up!

Combine your dry and wet ingredients together.

Step 6: Dip the Apples

Coat both sides of the apple rings in the batter.

Step 7: Fryin' Time

Fry the rings until golden brown on both sides.

Step 8: Cool Down

After removing from the oil, place the rings on a wire rack to cool.

Step 9: Top If Off

For the cinnamon sugar topping, I combined 1/4 c sugar and 1 tbsp cinnamon.

Step 10: Coat in Topping

Coat your rings in the topping.

Step 11: Enjoy!
