Intro: Class Computer Build

First things first, gather your materials and prepare your work station.

STEP 1:

Once you have your motherboard out, insert the CPU and RAM very carefully so as not to damage the CPU pins.

STEP 2:

When preparing to screw in the motherboard you will need to first find where the screw will go in the case.

STEP 3:

After carefully inserting the RAM and CPU, attach the fan on top of the CPU, and insert the IOS shield after screwing in the motherboard inside the case

STEP 4:

Once the motherboard and the fan are installed all that is left is to install the driver which is shown in the right of this picture.

STEP 5:

Make sure that the driver that you are using is compatible with the case and will fit and not be loose or too tight.

STEP 6:

Then all you do is seal up the case and you're done.

I know this is is might sound like I'm don't know to much about a computer but I know a little mine keeps telling me that I have no network card are it can't find my network card and I know it has one. is there any way by chance someone could help me figure out what happened other than that the computer is runs fine. where is the network card located ? you can email me at longhaulpits@gmail.com

    1. Select the Start button, type Device Manager, and select it from the list of results.
    2. Expand one of the categories to find the name of your device, then right-click (or tap and hold) it, and select Update Driver Software.
    3. Select Search automatically for updated driver software.
    4. If Windows doesn't find a new driver, you can try looking for one on the device manufacturer's website and follow their instructions.
  • If these steps don't work, try reinstalling the driver: Open Device Manager, right-click (or tap and hold) the name of the device, and select Uninstall. Restart your PC and Windows will attempt to reinstall the driver.
Sorry this is not detailed enough to be useful.
You should use a grounding strap or similar before handling the CPU as they are extremely delicate. I don't mean to sound rude but its as vague as can be, and hardly an instructible
Why don't you save these comments for someone who is spam or advertising, and not a middle schooler whom posted it for a grade. Also, it is spelled "Instructable".. if you look around there's other students with the same build. There IS a difference between constructive criticism and being rude. Why do you even care about an ESD strap if you didn't notice that thermal paste wasn't included on the CPU?
I realised I had spelt it wrong, but there is no way to edit posts on the app. Are you implying my post is invalid because I made a spelling mistake?

I could have mentioned the thermal paste, but I had made my point that the information isn't really there and an example of this - IE the strap. If I had compiled a list of everything that was wrong I could have just made my own - and my intention was for the OP to bulk it up a bit since he clearly has the knowledge and expertise.

At no point had I mocked the original poster or made out they were stupid and rather was just giving my advice - IE not enough information for this to be a how to. The site is called Instructables, and if I was reading this as someone who wasn't too clued up on computers, I would still be none the wiser. If you took that to be rude then that's hardly any fault of mine when I made clear in both posts that I was saying it with sincerity. I didn't realise he was in middle school but I don't see how this is relevant.

If you found it informative and it taught you how to build a PC from scratch then that's great. To the OP, as implied in my other posts, I did not mean to cause any offence and was only offering my advice that there was not enough information.
As a middle school teacher language arts teacher, I would have NOT given full credit for this post if it is indeed an assignment.

I agree. There are not enough details to be a useful instructable. Furthermore, learning to receive constructive criticism is a life skill the teacher likely had in mind when/if creating the assignment, and that is exactly what was given.

The OP should edit and finish the assignment. Details like grounding, thermal paste, and perhaps installing the OS are important steps.

Wow! I dont think i could make this but it looks great!
