Introduction: Classy DIY Wedding Invitation on a Budget

About: just a guy who likes robots, sci-fi, computers and prop making on a very tight budget.

A co-worker is gonna be married in 3 weeks from now. Last week she was all in a rush to make a few invitations, however she was at a loss as to how to begin. She only knew that her dress and the wedding would have an apple green theme. So naturally we searched for images using "Apple green wedding invitation". when she saw this :

https://www.pinterest.com/pin/221239400418628630/ she fell in love with the heart details. So she asked if I could help her with that design.

So let's help her make an invitation. :)

Step 1: Print and Cut Out the Patterns

I downloaded the image and proceeded to draw it as close as possible. I printed it out and started cutting them out using a hobby knife or X-acto knife. The process is a bit slow when starting but then when you get to 2 or 3 hearts it gets easier. The technique was to move the pattern instead of moving the knife. the 2 other patterns are for the inside of the invitation.

Don't worry if you can't follow the lines as we will be flipping it bottom side up so no prints can be seen. Same is with the other 2 patterns.

Step 2: Put Everything Together

Using a cream colored paper, I folded it into 3 places. This will become the envelop of the invitation. I then cut a 4" x 8" white paper , 1" x 8" Apple green and 1"x 8" pastel green paper.

Arrange the white, pastel green and apple green paper. The apple green peeking about 1/4" same with the pastel green. The White will be the main background. Insert the 2 pattern on the pastel green layer.

The invitation was printed on a parchment paper.

I took a photo of the sample I made using my camera phone and a bit of pixlr editing. Some earthly accessories and there you have it the classy DIY wedding invitation. :)

P.S.

The pearls and obviously fake, the leaves are just dried up leaves and yes those are pistachio shells. :)
