Introduction: Clay From an Egg Carton.
I love to reuse and repurpose. Here is an idea how to make clay from egg carton.
Supplies
Egg carton, home made glue
Step 1:
Tear the egg carton to pieces and soak it in the water for 8 - 12 hours. Take the pieces from the water and squeeze them so most of the water goes out.
Step 2:
Blend the pieces in to mass. Prepare glue. You will need 4 tbs of rice or wheat flour. Mix it in 200 ml of cold water, add 200 ml of hot water and cook for 2-3 min on medium heat. Mix during cooking. Put in a glass dish, let it cool down.
Step 3:
Mix glue with the paper mass.
Step 4:
Mix it well with hands and you are ready to create! I continue to do a little figurine, but you can use this clay for any project including papier mache.

I'm confused about the "glue" - is it just water and flour? Is there no other ingredient to slow/stop bacterial growth?
And also, I am assuming items made with this clay just air dry? We've been having terrible trouble with humidity lately, could I put it in a super low temp oven for awhile or is that just stupid?
How long can it be kept in a container after it's made?

I used only water and flour. You can add salt to stop the bacteria. I made small amount, used it all. Yes, just air dry. I assume you could try to put it in the oven or maybe try a hair dryer?
