Clay Mask From Paper Clay

We are making a paper clay mask from paper clay

Taking inspiration from kali mask:

the vibrant colors of jewelry and black face and some colored elements on the face

Supplies

1)paper clay (your choice of clay{but prefer paper clay for its strength and mouldability even when thin})

2) water/acrylic colours and brushes

3)newspaper

4)paper tape

5)primer

6)varnish spray

Step 1: Base for Mask

think of a design for your mask and make a base for your mask by crumpling the newspapers making base for your mask

Step 2: Start the Clay Work

make a spherical ball of the clay and press it down such that it is circular and about 5mm thick

Step 3: Shape the Mask

add the nose, cut out the eyes,

add the hair texture

add elements like ear rings and crown

let the mask dry and become solid

in this case of paper clay we dried for 1-2 weeks

Step 4: Add Primer

apply the primer paint on the mask and let it dry

(applying primer makes it easier and better to colour)

Step 5: Colouring

paint the mask with water / acrylic paint and let the paint dry

Step 6: Make a Stand for Display

use foam board or any similar material to make a rigid stand for the mask

Step 7: Apply Varnish

varnish provides the shine to your mask
