Intro: Clean the Chewing Gum Stains Easily From Your Clothes! Ridiculous Easy!

We all like and need chewing gum (ok, some people like TicTacs only :) ) but oh boy do we hate it when gum gets on our clothes.
It happened to me, I sat right on a gum at a concert. I thought it ruined my pants. Tried to scrub it with a knife off, washed it afterwards... NO USE!

Until I came across a new method to clean those stains:

It worked for me!!! The gum just melted right off ???
It didnt work for me.. The stain is still there!
Thanks, I will try it out very shortly!
Just spray WD-40 on the gum and rub it in. It takes it right off.
How well does WD-40 work? Just curious
My son's school trousers had a massive stain on them left by chewing gum. I'd scraped off the worst and had tried everything else to get the stain out, but nothing worked. Was about to throw them out when I found bruc33ef's tip and as I had nothing to lose, I tried the WD-40. I sprayed it on the stain, gave a little scrub with an old toothbrush and hey presto it instantly disappeared! I immediately washed the trousers in a bowl of soapy water and they've dried perfectly clean, no stain left by the WD-40 or the chewing gum. By the way, the trousers are made of Polyester 100%. Thanks, bruc33ef.
There's an easy way to find out...
I would have thought WD40 would leave its own stain, or possibly bleach the fabric slightly... I wouldn't want to try it on a favourite garment, but might try it on a cheap one.
Actually, if you look up the composition of WD-40, say on Wikipedia, you will find that it is more than 50% cleaning solvent, so it doesn't leave a stain. Of course I can't account for what it would do on every fabric, but it is generally safe, and probably at least as safe as vinegar.
Gosh, I didn't know that. I thought that it was something oily, as it is used as a lubricant. You learn something new every day!
how long do you heat the vinegar for?
Another annoying stain on clothes is ink (especially on dress shirts). One way you can get it out is by taking a washcloth and putting rubbing alcohol on it, then rubbing the stain furiously;-).
I do like. Simple, informative, and entertaining.
