Introduction: Cleaning a Sticky Logitec WAVE Wireless Keyboard.

Don't throw out your old Logitec wireless keyboard just because your 10-Month-Old daughter spilt her sippy cup into it!  Take it apart and clean it!

Step 1: Disassembly

Turn the keyboard over and using a medium sized screwdriver, remove all the screws fornd on the bottom side of the keyboard.  Place the screws in a bowl and set them aside.  The bottom should easily lift away from the keyboard face.

Step 2: Inside the Keyboard

This is what we're after.  This silicone keypad is what gives the keyboard it's "springy" feel.    Look closely and you will see our culprit.  Looks like apple juice to me.

Step 3: Pad Removal

Gently pull the black "Media Center" control pad from it's seat.  Do the same for the white silicone keypad from it's location being careful to leave the thin plastic circuit board where it is supposed to be.

Step 4: Cleaning

Soak the white and black silicone pads in warm, soapy water for several minutes.  Lightly scrub the face of the pads with a small, soft brush.  I used my daughter's bottle brush.  Rinse well in warm water-then again in cold water.  Set aside to dry. Compressed air works well here for quicker drying.  

Step 5: Cleaning the Plastic Bits.

Gently wash the keyboard in warm water at the kitchen sink.  I used the hand sprayer to get at the stickiest of the keys.

Step 6: Reinstallation

The silicone keypads are reinstalled in the bottom of the keyboard.  Be sure to check every inch of it to make sure it is seated properly.  In the top half, remember to reinstall the zoom rocker button and mute button as they have surely fallen out by now.  Turn the bottom over while holding the silicode pad with your fingertips and mate it to the top half. Reinstall the screws and put new batteries in.  VIOLA!  A "new" wireless keyboard!
