Introduction: Climbing Vine Planter Box

This isa perfect garden box for any type of climbing vine, and is perfect to use as a center piece in your garden.

Step 1: Materials

Four 1" x 6" x 36" boards of wood

Four 1" x 6" x 10" boards of wood

Two 1" x 2" x 60" boards of wood

Half inch steel fabric

1 1/4" wood screws

Two Galvanized Steel Handles

Two Corner Braces

Step 2: Making the Base

Take Two 36 inch boards and screw them together with 10 inch boards too make a rectangle. The 10 inch boars go on the inside of the 36 inch boards. Then screw those two rectangles together with two angled screws.

Step 3: Making the Back

Use the corner braces to attach the 60 inch boards to a 33 inch board going in between. I added an extra screw on the outside of each corner to make it stronger. Then take the steel fabric and cut it to fit the size you would like on the back. Staple it on the wood with a staple gun every 6 inches.

Step 4: Attaching Handles

Attach the galvanized steel handles to the outside of the wood using the screws that it came with. Put handles on each side for easy transportation.

Step 5: Finish the Wood

The final step is to finish the wood using some type of outdoor paint or oil. I used linseed oil. Just pour some on a rag and wipe on every exposed part of the wood. This is to outdoor-proof the wood

    It looks like I forgot to put that there. It's 1" x 2" x 33"

Clever idea to use hardware cloth for the trellis.

That looks really nice! I need something like this for my new wisteria vine, I think it's going to outgrow the planter it's in pretty quickly.
