Introduction: Close That Gap in Hotel Curtains
If you're like me, you hate any light that comes in through the crack in your hotel room blinds. I really like a dark room for sleeping.
On the other hand, if you're not like me, you might really care if somebody can see in your hotel room.
Well in either case, here's what to do if you're stuck in a hotel room where the shades don't close all the way.

Materials:
- Your keys (or a binder clip if you've thought ahead)
- Take the split-ring from your keychain (aka a keyring), spread it apart, overlap the curtains and jam the curtains in between.
- Have a good night!

I always carry a couple clothespins for uses such as this. Chip bag clips too.

Clipping curtains together is a great idea. I hate to be awaken at 7am by sunlight streaming into the room, usually right on my face. But I think using keys is risky: you might be in a hurry to checkout in the morning and leave your keys behind, still stuck to the curtains.
I suggest using a clip or a safety pin. You should always have a couple of safety pins with you anyway. If you must use the keyring, remove the keys from the keyring and use the keyring on its own, at least on the night just before checking out.

Heh, it's highly unlikely that I'd leave without my keys, because then I'd have to push my car to wherever I'm going, and I'd almost certainly notice something's amiss.

True for you, but since this instructable is accessible to the general public, many of whom might be taking trains, public buses or planes, leaving their keys behind can be a very real and inconvenient reality.
Another trick is to use hangers with clips. Many hotel provide these for hanging up long pants. You can just clip the entire hanger to the curtains.
