Introduction: Cloth Binding

I found an old notebook at home and I decided to refresh it. The first part of the refreshing was to wrap it with cloth. Now I'm going to show you how I did that.

Step 1: Materials

Here's what you need:

1. A notebook
2. Some cloth
3. White paper (or color...your choice) for the inside
4. Glue (I recommend to use strong glue...not like mine)
5. Ruler
6. Scissors

Step 2: Measure and Cut

Open the notebook over the cloth. Use the ruler to measure about 5 cm from the left and the right cover and about 4 cm from the top and the bottom part of the cover. Mark the cloth with marker or a pen around the notebook and then after the measure. Then cut it.

Step 3: Gluing Part 1

Glue the cover, then carefully place it over the cloth. Press hard so it glue better. If you use very thin cloth be careful when gluing, small balloon filled with air could form. Try to avoid them. Fold the left part of the cloth inside the notebook and close it. Repeat this with the other cover.

Step 4: Gluing Part 2

Leave the notebook closed until the glue dry.

Now open the notebook and glue the corners. Fold the corner of the cloth inside so it form a little square (see the third picture). Do the same with other corner. Glue the vertical space between the two corners (put some glue over the corners too). Fold the cloth and glue it to the cover. Now glue the horizontal parts. Repeat this with the other cover and close the notebook for some time.

Step 5: Inside Gluing

Glue the white paper for the first page and the cover.

Step 6: Last Step

Now let's glue the little parts between the two covers. Cut them in half and put some glue on the both sides. Open the notebook wide and insert the little parts in the hole, under the sheets of paper. Use the scissors to do this. Close the notebook so it can glue.

Step 7: Finish

If you have different cloths you can use them to decorate the cover.

Now the notebook is ready to be used. Enjoy!
