Coat Hanger Airgun Flechettes

This 'ible will show you how to make the most painful and damaging projectiles you can fire out of an airgun: the flechette. You could use these for pest control or just target shooting. These are in the outdoor survival contest because they can kill small game at ranges inside of 40 feet.

Step 1: Materials

For this, you will need a pair of tin snips, some q-tips with a plastic, hollow body, and a coat hanger.

Step 2: Cutting the Materials

Take tin snips and cut the q-tip in half, and then take the snips and cut a 1" section of coat hanger.

Step 3: Assembly

Wedge coat hanger section into the q-tip shaft.

Step 4: Loading and Firing

If you have a break barrel airgun, load normally. If you have a multi-pump airgun, get out a gun cleaning kit and assemble the .17 cal. rod. Muzzle-load it and make sure it is touching the sliding breech block. Fire away!

I would have to be faced with no hope of getting ammo again b4 I shot these. ONLY because it can't be good for the barrel.

If you have a "BB" gun like a "Crosman Pump Master 760" it has NO rifling and will shoot these fine, perhaps. BUT they make a very dangerous load if say you kids make them and treat them like bb's. Sure a bb can blind youclose up and at a distance they don't do a lot in a low power model, but these will have issues they will tear corneas etc. Eyeballs are not well protected, and damage easily.

again if it a EOTWAWKI situation and you never are going to get ammo again , doable, elsewise , just buy pellets. If you have a smooth bore buy bb's as well.

I may try a round in a 760, but not in my other rifles I like them tooo much.
