Introduction: Cocoa Pull-Aparts

A year ago, I went on a camping trip with the Scouts. I was in the process of making cinnamon pull-aparts (www.instructables.com/id/Quick-and-Easy-Pull-a-Parts), but I realized I had forgotten the cinnamon. In desperation, I used the only thing I had available, packets of hot cocoa mix. It turned out great, so I tweaked the receipt to make it a little better and present it here for your culinary delight (also makes a great neighbor gift).

Step 1: Ingredients

4 cans refrigerated buttermilk biscuits

1 stick unsalted butter

1/2 cup brown sugar

2 Tbsp. corn syrup

2 Tbsp. white sugar

3-4 packets hot cocoa mix

Step 2: Preparation

Preheat the oven to 350°F

Line the bottom and sides of the Dutch oven with tin foil.

Melt the butter.

Mix the butter, brown sugar, and corn syrup together.

Pour 2/3 of the buttery mixture in the bottom of the Dutch oven.

Mix the cocoa and white sugar in a large bowl.

Cut each of the bisquits into quarters and individually roll them in the cocoa mixture until evenly coated.

Layer the cocoa covered biscuits in the bottom of the Dutch oven.

Drizzle the remaining 1/3 buttery mixture over the top of the biscuits.

Step 3: Cooking

Cook in a conventional oven for 35-45 minutes at 350°F or until the biscuits are done.

Or

Cook using briquettes for 35-45 minutes at 350°F by placing 9 briquettes under the Dutch oven and 17 briquettes on top of the Dutch oven.

Rotate the entire Dutch oven 1/4 turn and the oven lid 1/4 turn the opposite direction every 7-10 minutes for even baking heat.

Step 4: Serve or Give

Serve it up warm or wrap it up and give it as your favorite neighbor gift.
