Introduction: Colby Jack and Garlic Crockpot Bread
I just love homemade bread. It makes the whole house smell great and my family gets super excited to have some with a meal. I don’t, however, care for the kneading or the rising. I’m an impatient baker for sure. I’ll admit it. I like instant gratification or better yet, fix it and forget it. If you are like me, this your recipe.
This bread recipe combines Colby and Monterey Jack cheese with garlic and onion powder to create a warm and savory yeast bread. You can let the dough rise and bake right in your crockpot and there’s no kneading involved. It’s easy peasy and it is definitely tasty!
Ingredients:
3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon fast rise yeast
3 teaspoons Kosher salt
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 1/2 cups lukewarm water
1 cup shredded Colby and Monterey Jack cheese

1 cup shredded Colby and Monterey Jack cheese
Step 1: Prepping the Crockpot
Spray your crockpot with non-stick cooking spray.
Step 2: Creating the Dough
In a stand mixer, combine flour, yeast, onion and garlic powder, salt, and cheese. Mix on low power. While mixing add water slowly until a shaggy dough forms. I used a standard mixing paddle. This took approximately 30 seconds.
Step 3: Rise, Baby, Rise!
Put a little flour on your hands to prevent sticking. Remove dough from mixer and place in the center of your crockpot. Turn on the machine and set it to “keep warm”. Leave it for 3 hours or until the dough has doubled in size.
Step 4: Baking in the Crockpot
Now, that your dough has risen. Turn the crockpot to the high setting. You will heat it for 3 hours. It will be a softer bread and perfect for a sandwich or just some delicious melty butter. If you want a little more golden color on your bread you can broil it on low in your oven for a little bit. Mine came out of the crockpot with a light golden surface and darker crusty edges. It was really quite delicious that way and therefore, I did not do anything extra to it.
