Intro: Concrete Fire Bowl

My mom has been wanting a tabletop fire pit so I decided to take on this challenge and make one myself. Making the concrete bowl was easier than expected. Adding a little tiki fuel to the Sterno can created the yellow flame.

STEP 1: Mixing the Concrete

In a large 5 gallon bucket empty enough concrete for the amount of bowls you will be making. 1/4 bag for each 12” bowl you make. Than mix the concrete.

STEP 2: Using the Cooking Spray

Spray the inside of the large bowl, and the outside of the small bowl.

STEP 3: Pouring the Concrete

Put the concrete in the large bowl, then push the small one into the concrete. And put your weights in the small bowl. If the small bowl starts to crack don’t worry the pressure will hold it where it needs to be.

STEP 4: Getting Rid of Air Bubbles

Tap the side of the big bowl, to remove all the bubbles.

STEP 5: Removing the Bowls

Allow the concrete bowl to dry for at least 48 hours before removing it from plastic bowls.

STEP 6: Sanding

Sand the rim of your bowl so it is smooth.

STEP 7: Touching Up (optional)

Use epoxy to glue the crushed glass on the rim of the bowl. I got mine at Dollar Tree.

STEP 8: Set Up

Get your Sterno can with tiki oil and put the wire over it, then fill the bowl up the rest of the way with the rock or fire glass. Then next you can light it, it will be a blue flame for a while but the orange flame will appear.
