Intro: Control a Gameboy With a NES Controller!

You still have that gameboy in your closet?
how about that NES controller?
let's bust them out!
(:

STEP 1: Items You Will Need:

- Music (optional, but recommended)
- Soldering iron
- Soldering Items: wire, solder, etc.
- Nes controller.
- Gameboy (this instructable will be for the original.)
- Tri winged screwdriver, or tool to open a gameboy.
- Time and Patience.

STEP 2: Prepare the Gameboy.

you'll need the soldering equipment for the next two steps!
open the gameboy, there's about 8 screws on the back.
unscrew them,
unattach the screen ribbon to separate the boards, unscrew the front board,
and set it down,

STEP 3: Prepare the NES Controller.

Open the NES controller,
there will be one circuit board, snip the wires for the hookup cord to a NES console.
find the places for the arrow keys and A/B buttons on the circuit board.

STEP 4: Soldering! Yay!

if you're like me and don't like soldering much,
i'm sorry.
find both places where the A and B buttons are aswell as where the D-pad is.
get long wires, as long as you want them, you will need 6 wires.
solder the wires from the NES circuit board to the gameboy circuit board, the placement will be obvious.

STEP 5: Drilling and Closing!

drill a hole in the case where guts aren't hiding from the gameboy,
and put the wires through them.
Flick on the gameboy and have fun! :D

hey nice mod, but have you ever tried connecting the NES controller port from da system to the gameboy and use the NES controller by just connecting it into the bottom or side of the gameboy without the guts sticking out and just having the controller plug in and out if you please. i think you should try it out and see if it works sounds like something i would do just a thought.
Thats what I was thinking! and if there wasn't enogh space you could switch out the gameboy's guts with the guts of a game boy pocket so you could but the port in
I really do need more than "Placement will be obvious."
Hey, is it possible to still use the GameBoy's buttons aswell as the NES controllers?
It would be cool if you could then hook up a bigger screen, and a nes game port and make portable nes. But then it wouldn't be a Gameboy anymore.
will this work with gbm
Would be nice to see the finished thing
do you know that you forgot to.. ..post good picture of the actual product ..ask owner of these stolen picture if you could use them ..show a diagram for the wiring ..show us the finished product ..
