Introduction: Convert EarPods to In-Ear Headphones With Remote and Mic for IPhone
You need:
- Apple EarPods.
- Headphones In-Ear that you prefer.
- Soldering iron.
- Glue.
P.S. sorry for my bad English. I'm studying it
Step 1: Panasonic ErgoFit In-Ear + Apple EarPods
I used a EarPods Chinese clone (because I only need the control chip) bought from ebay ($3) and a Panasonic ErgoFit In-Ear Earbud Headphones HJT125 from amazon ($9.99) (You can change it for that you prefer).
Step 2: Open EarPods.
You just need to apply some pressure to remove the cover.
if necessary, use tweezers to apply a slight squeeze.
Step 3: Open In-Ear Headphones.
Same previous step.
Step 4: Desoldering Headphones.
Check and remember the polarity of headphone before desolder.
The cable copper color is ground (-) and otter colors are L R signals (+).
Desolder without put long time the soldering iron, excessive heat could damage copper.
After desolder remove knots and pull cable.
Step 5: Soldering.
Take the in-ear headphones and reassemble it with the EarPods cable.
Step 6: Ending
Remake the knots and add some glue to close the headphones.
Step 7: Enjoy.
Final specifications:
- Frequency Response (Hz-kHz) 10-24
- Driver Unit (mm) φ9
- Sensitivity (dB/mW) 97
- Impedance (Ω)/1kHz 16
- Max input (mW) 200
Mic with volume buttons and a multi-function button.
