Introduction: Conway's Game of Life on Galactic Unicorn

About: Retired teacher of computing - started 1967 with FORTRAN IV. I now play with development boards such as Raspberry Pi, Pico, Arduino, micro:bit and Adafruit CircuitPython boards like the Insybitsy M4 and Circui…

A great display on which to run Conway's Game of Life.

This is a conversion from a program I've been running on my Pico Explorer for some time but it looks much better on this larger and brighter display.

Supplies

Pimoroni Galactic Unicorn display

Thonny editor

USB cable

Step 1: Video and Code

There are two buttons used to control the program. You can switch to a new New Colony with button A and use button D to halt execution and clear the display. It works well as a shelf display running from main.py stored on the Pico and starts running as soon as it is powered up. No computer then needed.
