Introduction: Cookie Machine for Your Dog

Luc has an assistent dog. Every time his dog does something good he has to reward his dog. This can be done either by petting or giving a cookie. Unfortunately he can't reach his dog because he is in a wheelchair and can't move his arms much, giving a cookie is also very difficult.

Therefore we made a cookie machine that can be attached to his wheelchair. The machine has room for 13 cookies, which is enough for one day of rewards. To make it fun, we add a little piece that holds the elastic band back so the cookie can be shot.

Step 1: Materials

Materials needed

  • ABS (Acrylonitril-butadieen-styreen) plate 4 mm
  • PMMA (Polymethylmethacrylaat) plate 4 mm (also known as plexiglass)
  • aluminium tubes (diameters 6 mm & 7.5 mm)
  • wheel collars (diameters 8.1x10.0mm & 6.0x9.0mm) => standard parts
  • double sided tape
  • sandpaper (coarse)

Tools

  • Laser cutter
  • Metal saw

Note 1

If you can't find this diameters, you can use diameters a little bigger or smaller. Make sure you correct the diameters in the laserfile propperly.

Note 2

You will need the intstructable for making the elastic band. You can find it here.

Step 2: Laser PMMA Pieces

You can use the PDF file either for lasercutting or as a template for the dimensions.

If you want to make addaptions you can use the Adobe Illustrator file.

Step 3: Laser ABS Pieces

You can use the PDF file either for lasercutting or as a template for the dimensions.
If you want to make addaptions you can use the Adobe Illustrator file.

Note

The ABS material is 4 mm. We used settings for ABS 3 mm. Because of this, the gaps aren't fully cutted through. This is needed to prevent the cookies from getting stuck in the gaps.

Step 4: Saw the Tubes

Sawing the correct lenghts

  1. Measure the correct lenght.
  2. Use a metal saw to saw the desired piece of tube.
  3. Do this 2x

Making a cut in one of the tubes

  1. Use a Dremel
  2. Measure how deep the cut has to be
  3. Cut the tube

Note

If you don't have a Dremel, you can use the metal saw. Watch out, because this way you can easily deform the tube.

Step 5: Apply Sandpaper to Tube With Cut

  1. Take a little piece of double sided tape and added to the last tube. Don't peel it of yet!
  2. Take a little piece of sandpaper and stick it to the tube

Step 6: Assemble Everything
