Introduction: Copper Pipe Jewelry Bars From Salvaged/scrap Plumbing Materials
Supplies
One (1) eight to twelve (8-12) inch piece of copper pipe (for the larger jewelry bar)
One (1) four to six (4-6) inch piece of copper pipe (for the smaller jewelry bar)
Four (4) copper pipe elbows
Four (4) three (3) inch pieces of copper pipe
*I used scrap copper pipe we had from a previous plumbing job)
Twenty-eight to thirty-two (28-32) screw in loops or hooks (I used the threaded closed loops and got mine in the Steampunk jewelry section at Michael’s)
Two pieces of wood large enough to mount the jewelry bars on
*I used scrap wood from a previous project
Solder and soldering iron
Drill or equivalent to drill holes in copper pipe pieces
Instructions
Drill holes about 1/2 an inch apart from one another across the larger 8-12 inch piece of copper pipe, with holes being drilled on both the side of the pipe that will face the front and the side that will face the bottom. Do the same on the smaller 4-6 inch piece of copper pipe.
Solder onto an elbow the smaller 3 inch piece of copper pipe, and let cool. Do the same on the other three elbows.
Solder an elbow to each end of the larger 8-12 inch piece of copper pipe. Do the same on the smaller 4-6 inch piece of copper pipe, and let cool.
Take the screw in loops or hooks and screw into each hole (or if you don’t have enough like me, every other hole).
Prepare the wood to your taste, and drill places for the ends of the jewelry bars to fit into, and snugly fit the jewelry bars into the holes.
Use a picture hanging kit or other mounting system on the back of the wood.
Mount to a wall and enjoy!
*don't want to use copper pipe? substitute copper pipe with other salvaged pipes in the medium of your choice!
