Introduction: Cotton Disc Flowers That Look Real

About: Hello! My name is Mary Simons and I' m glad to have joined the Instructables Community. I'm a creative person and have lots of ideas to share. Hope to find friends and new projects to work at here.

Cotton discs can be found in each home nowadays, because they are indispensible when it comes to cosmetic purposes. It turns out that these cotton discs as well as cotton swabs can also be used for creative purposes and this is exactly what I’m going to demonstrate in this Instructable. A few days ago, my 7-year old nephew visited me and I didn’t know how to entertain him. So, we decided to make something creative together, but we couldn’t even imagine what the result will be! The whole process of making cotton disc flowers took us less than an hour, but the emotions were really fantastic. So, I offer the photo report of the process in this post and I hope that this idea will be a great surprise for your moms, sisters, grannies and other people you love!

Step 1: Supplies

To make your cotton disc flowers, you will need the following supplies:

  • Cotton discs
  • Cotton swabs
  • Drinking straws
  • Yellow felt-tip pen
  • Glue

Step 2: Prepare the Cotton Swabs

Take a yellow felt-tip pen and paint the cotton pad yellow. The number of cotton swabs you will prepare should depend upon the number of flowers you are going to create. We used three cotton swabs.

Step 3: Insert the Cotton Swab Into a Drinking Straw

Having prepared the cotton swabs, insert each of them into the corresponding number of drinking straws. Make sure the unpainted part of the cotton swab is not inserted too deep. Do not forget to place the cotton disc beneath the drinking straw and cotton swab as it is shown on the photo.

Step 4: Glue Both Sides of the Cotton Disc

Carefully apply glue on both lower sides of the cotton disc. Do not apply too much glue. Otherwise, it can be seen from the outside, giving the flower the unwanted yellow color

Step 5: Make the First Flower

Attach lower parts of the cotton disc to each other, thus forming the flower.

Step 6: Make More Flowers

Repeat steps 1-4 as many times as you need to form a bouquet of flowers. This depends upon the number of flowers you wish to create. You can use a colorful paper wrap to form a bouquet. This will give the souvenir the finished look. By the way, you can attach the handmade flowers to the paper card to make a gift for your mother or granny. This souvenir will look unusual and will certainly appeal to your loved ones! Hopefully, you will enjoy the process! Waiting for your comments and new creative ideas! Good luck!
