Intro: Cozy Crocheted Mug of Hot Chocolate

In this tutorial, I am going to show you how to crochet an adorable little mug of hot chocolate! This is one of my favorite patterns so far and it is available in full for free in my Craftsy shop (Charlee Ann Designs)! Now let's get started. :)

STEP 1: Materials...

For this project, you're going to need (besides a basic knowledge of crochet) a G hook, tapestry needle, toy stuffing; and brown, white, and red worsted weight yarn.

STEP 2: The Chocolate

We're going to start off with the chocolate. We will be crocheting in the round throughout this entire pattern. So start with a magic ring or a chain 2. Work 5 single crochet in the ring. Pull tight. You should now have 5 stitches total. (First photo)

Now you are going to place 2 single crochets (single crochet increase) in each stitch around. You should now have 10 stitches total.

For the next step, you will place 1 single crochet in the next stitch, singlecrochet increase in the next stitch. Repeat this step 4 more times. This will make 15 stitches total.

Place 1 single crochet in each of the next 2 stitches, single crochet increase in the next stitch. Repeat this step 4 more times. You should have 20 stitches total. (Second photo)

Place 1 single crochet in each of the next 3 stitches, single crochet increase in next stitch. Repeat this step 4 more times. This makes 25 stitches total.

Place 1 single crochet in each of the next 4 stitches, single crochet increase in next stitch. Repeat this step 4 more times. This makes 30 stitches total. Sl st in next stitch and finish off. Don't forget to tuck in the end. We have now finished the chocolate! (Third photo)

STEP 3: The Marshmallows

Let's start working on the little marshmallows! I like to make 3 for my hot chocolate, but you can make as many or as little as you like. Make sure that you leave a long tail on each one so that you can use it to sew the marshmallow onto the chocolate.

Chain 2 or magic ring. Work 4 single crochet into the ring. Pull tight. Now you have 4 stitches total.

Place 1 single crochet in each stitch around, slip stitch in next stitch, finish off.

STEP 4: Sewing the Marshmallows Onto the Chocolate

Use the tapestry needle to sew the marshmallows onto the top of the chocolate. Make sure that the open end of the marshmallow is down.

STEP 5: The Mug

Repeatthe all 6 rounds of the chocolate. DO NOT SLIP STITCH OR FINISH OFF ON THE LAST ROUND.

Through the back loop only, place 1 single crochet in each stitch around. (30 stitches)

Repeat the last step 7 more times. Slip stitch in next stitch and finish off. LEAVE A GOOD LONG TAIL FOR SEWING THE CHOCOLATE INTO THE MUG. (Second photo)

STEP 6: Mug Handle

Chain 11, single crochet in second chain from hook, single crochet in each of the next 9 stitches, chain 1, turn.

Single crochet in each of the 10 stitches across, finish off, LEAVE A LONG TAIL FOR SEWING HANDLE TO MUG.

Sew the handle to the mug.

STEP 7: Put It All Together!

Use your tapestry needle to sew the chocolate into the mug on the second row from the top. I like to use a whip stitch for this. When you have almost sewn the whole thing up, stuff the mug until it is firm, and then finish sewing it closed.

STEP 8: Enjoy Your Cozy Little Hot Chocolate!
