Introduction: Create Your Personal Wolf Token Amulet for Power and Healing

"Ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds of the air, and they will tell you..." - Book of Job (12:7-8)

Wolf Energy has been used by shamans and healers in many cultures since the beginning of history. The Wolf, often mistaken as a symbol of negativity or violence, is a powerful teacher. The Wolf teaches us about our own humanity: Community, Loyalty, and the Love of One's Family. Wolves are also a symbol of Freedom, and Wolf Energy possesses the power to enlighten, heal, and strengthen those who call upon it.

The best way to harness this powerful, life-changing energy is to create your own Wolf Token Amulet that you can wear or hold close to you whenever you need it. This tutorial will show you the correct way to manufacture an authentic Wolf Totem Amulet that will bring energy and healing to your life.

materials you will need:

1) Craft Leather or suede (available at any chain Craft Store)

2) A large needle and strong thread

3) Fabric paint (any color)

4) Leather cord

5) (optional) Beads and Feathers (also available at any chain Craft Store)

6) A backpack

7) A can of beans

8) Towel

9) Survival knife and compass

10)   One 2 liter bottle of water

11)   One National Forest Map (available at local ranger stations)

Step 1: Constructing the Pouch

1) First, cut the craft leather into two identical triangles.

2) Place one on top of the other and use your thick needle to punch matching holes along the edges (See stitching pattern template). These holes are for your thread.

3) Pull your thread through the holes with your needle. Finish your stitching with a simple square knot.

Feel free to embellish your pouch with feathers, beads, and leather cord of your choosing. Be creative! Be self expressed!

4) Next, use your fabric paint to draw the sacred symbol of the Wolf Paw on your pouch. Squeeze gently so that the paint doesn't come out in large blobs. The bottle should indicate that product's drying time, but fabric paint typically dries in 6-12 hours.

**IMPORTANT** The Wolf Paw is a vital emblem,  so it is crucial to get it right. Do your research. Be careful not to confuse it with the paw of another animal (see the Paw Reference Chart photo).

Now your Personal Wolf Amulet Token Pouch is almost complete!

Step 2: Filling Your Wolf Token Amulet With Mana

The most important final step!
It is possible to obtain Wolf teeth, fur, and other parts from the internet. However, these can never be guaranteed to possess pure or healing Wolf Mana, especially if they were acquired by violent means (which they most likely were) . It is essential to find your item of Wolf Mana from an original source, so that you can be sure of its quality.
Once you have obtained an item that is imbued and saturated with the positive, powerful, healing energy of the Wolf Mana, your Wolf Token Amulet will be complete!

1) First, place your can of beans, survival knife, towel, map, compass, 2 liters of water and your almost-finished Wolf Token Amulet Pouch in a backpack. You don't want to go Wolf Mana collecting without these.

2) Next, you'll want to choose a location that is known to be Wolf Territory. For this demonstration, I chose a region inhabited by Mexican Gray Wolves. Since the Mexican Gray Wolves are still part of a recovery program, many are fitted with radio tracking devices, and their general locations are updated weekly on the government website. This makes them easier to locate.
Go to http://www.azgfd.gov/w_c/es/wolf_reintroduction.shtml and click "latest telemetry flight locations".
Also on that page is a link to the latest 3-month distribution map, which shows the general locations of the different Wolf packs in the form of colored blobs on a map.

3) You can use the telemetry data, your Gila National Forest Map, and Google Earth to choose your desired location for Wolf Mana collecting.
*Note*: The telemetry data is updated every Monday, so if you're a "Weekend Warrior" Mana-hunter, know that the data will be almost a week late by the time you make it to Wolf Territory.

Step 3: Searching for Wolf Mana

Once you have arrived in Wolf Territory, you will immediately begin to feel the powerful, healing presence of the Wolves themselves.

The landscape will probably seem far more huge and daunting than it did on your little map, but don't be discouraged.

Some tips to help you navigate Wolf Territory:
~
Wolves use landmarks to create internal maps of their landscape, just like we do. These landmarks usually include: Water sources (such as stock tanks); islands of elevated vegetation within an open, flat area; forest roads and trails; Watersheds and shallow ravines. All of these appear on your National Forest Map, so it would be easy for you to plot your own course between these landmarks. Limit your route to within about six square miles. This is a reasonable amount of distance that can be covered in a day, especially if the terrain is rough.

~Wolves use roads, and so should you! Trails and forest roads are very useful to wolves, because they allow them to conserve energy as they travel long distances. Also, dirt roads are the best place to see clear wolf tracks and scat. Keep in mind, "the only difference between a wolf and a hiker, is that when a wolf leaves the trail, he isn't lost".

~Think like a wolf as you travel. Ask yourself questions: What would a wolf see differently? What would a wolf smell that you cannot? Where would a wolf like to hang out? If a Wolf is not hungry or thirsty or threatened, where would he spend his free time?

~Summer and Fall are the best time to hunt for Wolf Mana because the wolf pack will be staying close to their summer den site to raise their pups. During winter months, Wolf packs range far and wide, sometimes traveling over 60 miles in a single day.

~ Should you encounter other people during your quest, remember that some individuals that you're likely to find in Wolf Territory (such as ranchers and hunters) may harbor some ill-will and resentment towards the Wolves and the people who love them. If you do engage in conversation with another person in Wolf Territory, feel free to tell them what you're doing there and how much you appreciate a landscape that is so full of positive Wolf Energy. However, do not engage in a confrontational dialogue. Remain cordial and polite at all times, even if the person is trying to incite conflict. Remember, they will usually be armed.  Take this opportunity to show them that a Wolf-lover is an enlightened, compassionate being!

~**Most importantly** Be respectful of this landscape! You are essentially a guest in the Wolf's enormous house. Act accordingly.

Step 4: What Type of Wolf Mana You Are Looking For

You are seeking a small item that will fit neatly into your Wolf Token Amulet Pouch. This item can be made of any material, so long as it once part of, or has come into contact with a Wolf, and has thusly been imbued with the potent healing Wolf Mana energy.

Footprint Mana:
Forest roads, trails, and around water sources are the best places to find wolf tracks. A wolf track is usually almost as large as a human hand. You can use the painted emblem on the front of your nearly-complete Wolf Token Amulet pouch as a reference.
A pinch of earth from within a Wolf track contains sufficient healing Wolf Mana energy for this project.

Fur Mana:
Check barbed wire fences or thorny foliage along Wolf trails. Sometimes the barbs or thorns may snag the Wolfs' thick coat as he passes. Even a single hair from a Wolf's body contains sufficient powerful Wolf Mana energy for this project.

Food Mana:
If you are lucky, you may find the remains of a Wolf's meal. Carcasses of elk and deer are common in Wolf Territory, usually near water sources or in shallow ravines where the Wolves used the landscape to trap their prey. The remains of a Wolf kill are typically bare bones that are scored with gnaw-marks, and are surrounded by chunks of hair that the wolves spat out during their meal.
A chunk of hair, a bone shard, or piece of sinew from the animal that died to give life to the Wolves contains very potent  Wolf Mana, and is suitable for this project.

Scat Mana:
Along the wolf trail, you will most likely find Wolf scat. A Wolfs' scat is distinguishable by its large size and its unique, spiraled and tapered shape. Wolf scat is usually full of elk fur, and also may contain pieces of bone, hoof, or teeth of their prey. These fragments of the Wolf's prey have been selected and eaten by the Wolf, and have then passed through the Wolfs' body. These prey fragments are possibly some of the most potent items imbued with the purest of healing Wolf Mana Engergy, and would be best for your project.

Step 5: Your Wolf Token Amulet Power Energy!

After you have obtained your item that is imbued with sufficient Wolf Mana Energy, place it reverently into your Wolf Token Amulet Energy Pouch. Congratulations! You are now in possession of tangiable, life-changing healing power energy. You will immediately begin to see positive changes in your life.

Remember to howl a sincere Thank You to the Wolves who have given you this tremendous gift of power and healing. Even if they don't respond, know that they heard your thanks.
