Introduction: Creating the Head

The following information is a single lesson in a larger Tinkercad project. Check out this and more projects on Tinkercad.

Project Overview:

For this lesson, the Ruler Tool can help to make objects a specific size.

The Ruler Tool allows you to view all of the dimensions of a selected object and to enter in specific values using the keyboard. Press "R" to select the Ruler tool and left click on the workplane to place it. When the ruler is on the workplane, a selected object will show how big it is on the X, Y, and Z axis. You will also see how far it is from the grid and ruler.

When the ruler is placed and with an object selected, left clicking on a value will allow you to use the keyboard to enter in a specific value.

Let's begin to make the head.

Instructions

  1. Place a paraboloid , cone, and cylinder on the working plane.
  2. Rotate the paraboloid 90 degrees on the Y axis, so it lays on its side. Scale it down so the values match the image below.
  3. Rotate the cone and cylinder 90 degrees. Scale the cone down so the values match the image below.
  4. Scale the cylinder down so the values match the image below.
  5. Press "W" to choose the Workplane Tool. Select the base of the paraboloid.
  6. Place a box on the workplane and turn it into a hole.
  7. Align the paraboloid and box to the cone only on the Z axis.
  8. With both the paraboloid and box selected, use the arrows to move them towards to cone until the cone barely peaks through.
  9. Scale the box using the black handle. Move the black handle past the left side of the box. The paraboloid will be inside the box when you are done. Group the box and cone together.
  10. Rotate the cone -7 degrees on the Y axis.
  11. Use align the center the cylinder on the Z axis. Move it so the bottom touches the bottom of the cone as shown in the image.
  12. Continue to the next lesson.

In the next lesson you will learn how to make the body!
