Introduction: Crochet Fat Cat

I love Amigurumi patterns, and wanted to make a "copy" of my cat, Romeo. He's not fat, but this pattern is so cute I thought it was the perfect opportunity to try it out with his features.

The pattern was created by Jennifer Reeve and it's available at www.crochetme.com/media/p/89244.aspx

I purchased the eyes through glasseyesonline.com
2 x 15mm Plastic Slit Pupil Safety Eyes w/washer(1 pair) (SPE-1) Color Blue

The main yarn is worsted weight, and for the whiskers, I used Patons Grace in black and a yarn needle. Romeo has a blue collar, so I crocheted a "collar" using Lion Brand Yarn Microspun in bright blue with a size H crochet hook. Here are the instructions:

1. Chain 105.
2. sc in 5th chain from hook.
3. Chain 5. sc in 5th chain from hook.
4. Repeat step 3 all the way to the end of the original chain.
5. Turn. Repeat step 3 until you reach the end of the row, but stop when you reach the loop at the end that was created by the first 5 stiches. You will use this loop to insert the end of the collar and drape along the side of the cat's body.

Enjoy!
