This cute octopus can be gifted or just kept for yourself. The pattern is fairly easy. It takes about 2-3 hours to make, but you don't have to do it in one sitting! It is a great thing for beginners to make, but advanced crocheters will have fun making it too. Enjoy!

Supplies

You will need:

- Yarn (Size of octopus is determined by yarn size)

- Crochet hook make sure it is smaller than the yarn (if you have 5 mm yarn, use a 4 - 4.5 mm hook)

- Safety eyes

- Stitch marker

- Yarn needle

- Stuffing

Step 2: Body

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)

Rnd 2: inc around (12)

Rnd 3: 1 sc inc, around (18)

Rnd 4: 2 sc inc, around (24)

Rnd 5: 3 sc inc, around (30)

Rnd 6: 4 sc inc, around (36)

Rnd 7: sc around (36)

Rnd 8: 4 sc dec, around (30)

Rnd 9: 3 sc dec, around (24)

Rnd 10: 2 sc dec, around (18)

Rnds 11-12: sc around (18)

Rnd 13: 10 dc, then 8 sc (18)

Rnd 14: sc around (18)

Rnd 15: dec around (9)

Now we will do the tentacles: Chain 17. Starting on the third chain from your hook, dc all the way down the chain. Once you are done, sc in the next stitch, and chain 17 again. Continue doing the same thing until you have 8 tentacles. Finally, place 1 sc in the stitch where you made the first tentacle. Finish off and push the excess yarn into the octopus.

Step 3: Eye Pieces (Make 2)

For the eyes, make a mr with 6 sc in it. Finish off, leaving a long tail. Insert the safety eyes, but don't put the plastic back piece on.

Step 4: Bottom

Rnd 1: 6 sc in mr (6)

Rnds 2-3: sc around (6)

Finish off, leaving a long tail.

Step 5: Finishing Your Octopus

Now that all the pieces are made, we will assemble.

First, grab your eyes. Place the screws of the safety eyes in the front of the octopus (double crochet part). Add the little plastic backs, making sure the screw is going through the eyepiece and body. One eye at a time, sew the eyepieces on. Tuck the remaining yarn ends into the body. Next, stuff the body. Finally, sew the bottom to the body, tuck the yarn ends in, and you are done!
