Intro: Crochet Your Wedding Bouquet

My daughter wanted her bouquet made of crocheted flowers.  Flowers are probably one of the easiest and fastest things to crochet.  The time it takes to create a bouquet will depend on the size of the bouquet you want.  

STEP 1: What You'll Need

Cut a styrofoam ball in half and cover it in lace (you can use a thrifted lace curtain).  Hot glue the lace to the styrofoam ball.  

STEP 2:

Here is an easy flower pattern I use.  

The small five petal flower (my fave) pattern is:
Make a magic ring.
Into the ring:  1SC, CH2, 2DC, CH2, 1SC, *CH2, 2DC, CH2, 1SC*, repeat from *to* 3 more times.  SLP ST into ring and fasten off.  Pull the ring tight. I just knot the ends on the back and cut.

Leaf pattern:

CH 8.  In second CH from hook, SC.  In next CH 1 HDC.  1 DC in next 3 CH.  In next CH, 2 HDC.  In last CH 1 SC.  Turn to crochet on the other side of the leaf.  1 SC in the last CH you just SC in.  In next CH 1 HDC, 1 DC in next 3 CH, then one HDC in next CH and 1 SC in last CH.  Slip st to end to make a point for leaf.  Fasten off.

STEP 3:

I used white ball pins to attach each flower onto the styrofoam ball.
Then I cut different types of lace and hot glued that onto the cone.
I used different weights of yarn, even embroidery thread, and hooks for the flowers to get different sizes.

This is a great heirloom to hand down and also use as a decoration!

thanks for sharing this beautiful bouquet, I am going to make one for my sister wedding. May I know if any hints for a successful bouquet? particularly for fixing flowers, are pins sufficient to fix in place or need to add glue? how long pins you used? THANK VERY MUCH.

I love this I am trying to crochet roses and daisys for my upcoming vow renewal i have the rose pattern i want but having trouble finding the daisy pattern any suggestions???

You can cheat and cut crocheted flowers off old shirts, hats, etc., from garage sales.

If you don't crochet, I would suggest making the smaller flowers first.

Thanks for all the sweet comments. I didn't really keep track of the hours it took to make the flowers. I crocheted flowers while watching tv. They work up really fast. Constructing everything took a bit longer because you want to make sure the bouquet isn't lopsided with bigger flowers on one side than the other. :)
