I made this crocheted orange pumpkin as a Halloween decoration.I had some left over orange yarn from a different project,and since it was Halloween season I thought it would be perfect for a pumpkin.

Supplies

1.)Any color yarn 5.)Leaves (optional)

2.)Crochet hook(size of your choice) 6.)Cinnamon stick

3.)Stuffing-I used fiber fill 7.)Glue

4.)Yarn needle

Step 1: Chaining a Row

I started my crochet project by chaining a series of 21 stitches.If you want to make a larger pumpkin just add more stitches,or less stitches if you prefer a smaller pumpkin.

Step 2: Starting a Second Chain

I then single crochet in the second chain from hook and single crochet all the way to the end.(You will then have 20 crochets.)I then chained 1 and turned.

Step 3: Forming the Pumpkin

I then single crochet in 1st stitch using back loop only,all the way to the end of that row.(Be sure to use only the back loop.)Then chain 1 and turn,repeat row to desired length.I used 45 rows.Then I tied it off,leaving a long string for sewing.See pic 2.

Step 4: Making the Pumpkin Body

I then threaded the long string thru the yarn needle,then sewed the 2 ends together forming a circle.Tie off and weave any extra yarn into the circle to hide extra yarn.

Step 5: Closing the BOTTOM

Then I cut a long piece of yarn and weaved it around the circle,and pulled the strands of yarn to close the bottom and tied it off.This formed the bottom base of my pumpkin.

Step 6: Adding the Stuffing

At this point my pumpkin resembled a bowl.I filled the bowl with my fiber-fill,stuffing the fiber-fill to shape my pumpkin.

Step 7: Sealing the Top

Then I cut another long string of yarn and weaved it around the top,pulling the top closed and tying it off.I left extra yarn for my next step.

Step 8: Adding Character to My Pumpkin

I then took the extra yarn from sealing the top and pushed it thru the center of the pumpkin,do this a few times to make dents in your pumpkin.This gave my pumpkin a little character.

Step 9: Finishing the Pumpkin

The final step was to glue the cinnamon stick at the top center,and then glue on the leaves.The cinnamon stick gives the pumpkin a nice cinnamon smell.I have some more yarn,think I'll make a few more of these and use them for a centerpiece for our Thanksgiving dinner this year.
