So I'm a huge VHS collector. Horror, Classics, Action, anything I can find. Some covers are incredibly cool and hard to find. But for most collectors they sit on the shelf with just the spine showing. With this custom VHS frame, you can display your favorite tapes on a wall. If you have any artistic flair you can paint embellishments to give the frame more life, or leave the frame neutral.

Supplies

Frame, Glue, Matte, VHS tray, Paint.

Step 1:

First step is to find some trays. I bought a bunch of Have Gun Will Travel tapes just for the trays. They were pretty cheap. You also need to find some picture frames. There's a lot of inexpensive frames at thrift stores.

Step 2:

Carefully remove the tray from the VHS. In this case the tray was heavily glued to the Have Gun Will Travel slip cover. I had to peel it off without damaging the tray. Next, choose your frame and matte. The tray is going to sit on top of the matte. You can have any color matte you like and even paint designs on it if you like. Glue the tray to the matte with heavy duty glue like E6000 Plus or a ton of Elmers glue (I used both).

Step 3:

Wait at least 12 hours for the glue to dry. You can even put some heavy books on it to help keep the glue stick to the matte. Then you're all done and ready to hang your VHS on the wall. I added some finished pieces in the next step.
