Introduction: DIY Acrylic Spiked Beaded Earrings
Totally easy, cute and fun earrings that are sure to impress. =) Get creative and make them your own!
** I am entering these earrings into the jewelry contest...so if you like what you see feel free to give me your vote!
For these earrings you will need...
- monofilament nylon (fishing wire)
- acrylic spike beads (I'm using 2 different sizes)
- silver 11/0 seed beads
- 2 small jump rings
- 2 earwires
- crimp beads
- ruler
- scissors
- flat nose pliers
Step 1: Prepare Your Fishing Wire
Begin by cutting out 6 inches of fishing wire and then crimping on a crimp bead at the very end of one side of the wire.
Step 2: Assemble Your Earrings
Add beads to your wire in this order:
- 15 seed beads
- 1 small spiked bead
- 5 seed beads
- 1 small spiked bead
- 5 seed beads
- 1 LARGE spiked bead
- 5 seed beads
- 1 small spiked bead
- 5 seed beads
- 1 small spiked bead
- 15 seed beads
After you are finished you can uncrimp and remove the crimp bead you added at the beginning. That was only added so you didn't have to worry about dropping your wire and losing all your beads (trust me, it happens!).
Step 3: Close Up Your Earring
Now that your crimp bead is removed, line up both ends of the wire.
Add a new crimp bead onto BOTH ends of the wire and slide it down towards your seed beads.
Feed the wire back through the crimp bead. Do this for both wire ends. It will form a loop.
Pull the wire ends nice and tight and then crimp your crimp bead at that spot.
Snip off the excess wire and it should look something like the last picture.
Step 4: Finish Up!
Next, add a jump ring and earwire to to the loop.
Repeat all the steps for the other earring and you're all done!
