I've really wanted an Enchiridion from Adventure Time but all the ones I found were all kind of expensive. That plus i didn't find any that i though good enough for the money. So i decided to try and make my own.

Also this is my first attempt at a fully documented instructable so please feel free to leave criticism and suggestions in the comments :D

Materials:

Large Cover Book

Faux Leather Vinyl

Round Metal Thumb Tacks

Sheet Metal

Elmer's/White glue

Super Glue

Tools:

Exacto Knife

Scissors

Rubber Mallet

Sharpie

Binder Clips

Jigsaw with Metal Cutting Blade (or other saw with metal cutting abilities)

Drill with Metal Cutting Bits

Step 1: Trimming and Attaching the Vinyl

Start by trimming the vinyl to be 1 inch long on each side. This will allow you room to adjust the cover and the excess can be trimmed off later.

After positioning the vinyl, use super glue to attach the vinyl to the spine.

Then cut and trim the vinyl at the ends of the spine and push in the excess using a small screwdriver.

Step 2: Attaching the Vinyl to the Back Cover

Again using super glue, begin attaching the vinyl to the back cover. Use binder clips to keep tension while glueing. Use white glue on the cloth backing to attach the center of the vinyl to the cover. Also be sure to glue down the vinyl to the crease on the cover in order to allow the book to open properly. Finally, trim the excess vinyl and cut the ends at 45 degree angles for a clean finish.

Step 3: Attaching the Vinyl to the Front Cover

I sized and printed out the cover seen here. Please note that the size of the cover printed out will be dependent on what size your own book is. After center portion is cut out I use it to trim out the center portion of the front cover. Then the paper is attached with white glue. The center vinyl is glued down with superglue, then the rest of the cover is attached using the same method as the back cover.

Step 4: Metal Work

I use the same cover to get templates for the metal braces. The braces are cut out of the paper, then traced on to the steel with a sharpie. I use a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade to get the rough shape. Next, I use my dremel to refine the shape. Lastly the hole for the thumb tacks are drilled out.

Step 5: Finishing Touches

Lastly I use a rubber mallet to attach the steel braces to the cover. I would recommend using some epoxy on the back of the steel, as using the thumb tacks is more for decoration than for actual support.

Also, I used a piece of felt to line the back of the front cover to cover up the sharp ends of the tacks.
