Intro: DIY Aerogarden Reflector Power - Grow Light Booster

How I made my own DIY Aerogarden Reflector Power - Grow Light Booster, and how you can, too!

We received an Aerogarden 7 http://www.aerogarden.com/ for Christmas. We are very excited to try gardening indoors, and we are hoping that this will be a jump on healthier living.

We have set it up just a couple day ago, and I saw the Youtube video Grow Light Boosters Time Lapse: http://youtu.be/XKFhn4F6M1Y

I decided to make my own.

STEP 1: Get the Supplies

Here's the supply list. Short and sweet.

1. Cardboard box
2. Scissors
3. Clear packing tape
4. Reflective foil.
5. Aerogarden (naturally)

STEP 2: Cut the Cardboard and Size It

Get the scissors, and cut that box so that it fits around three sides of the box. Make sure that the top doesn't go to much over the light.
Then, cut a slit in the center of the back, so that the power cord goes through the box, and that the box is level.

STEP 3: Secure the Foil and Set Into Place

I ate a bag of chips with the family. For science. of course.

I cut open the bag, cleaned it and used it for reflector material. I

taped the bag, along with some aluminum foil to the box while taking care to make sure it folded up around the Aerogarden.

Here it is, all set up. Wish us luck, please. I am hoping to get a bounty of herbs: basil, dill, cilantro, chives, parsley, thyme and mint.

I used a copy paper box, trimmed it to fit around the light hood and lined it with tin foil from the Dollar store. Having 4 sides to the reflector works great and also helps keep some of the heat in.

I did a DYI reflector as well with a Mylar emergency blanket. They were 2 bucks for 3 blankets at target. The blankets are huge and you can trim a piece off each time you increase the high of your garden. They cut down on the light shining into the room and they are also see though.
