Introduction: DIY Boron Nitride Thermal Paste (High Performance, Cheap, Bulk)

In this tutorial, I will show you how to make high performance Boron nitride thermal paste for cheap and in bulk at home. I always keep running out of thermal paste and the tubes cost too much. I mostly use thermal paste in my electronic projects for my IGBTs and MOSFETs.

Supplies

-Boron Nitride powder (smaller the particle size, the better) (I bought from AliExpress)

-Mineral oil / Silicone oil

Step 1: Making the Thermal Paste

Gather supplies. Measure boron nitride powder. Keep the ratio of powder between 60-70%.

carefully add mineral oil to powder.

For example: 5.8g oil to 10g powder.

Step 2: Mixing

Mix throughly until a homogeneous mixture is formed. Make sure you paste is not too dry. It should be easy to spread.

Step 3: Application

Clean the heat sink with isopropyl alcohol before applying thermal paste to it.
