Introduction: DIY Bubble Plastic Art

About: As a hobby I post DIY/tutorials on crafting and mechanical builds on YouTube: http://www.youtube.com/user/victordoes/videos

Here you will learn how to make art with recycled packaging materials! Bubble Plastic! Who do not love bubble plastic??

You will need:

  • Water + Food Coloring
  • Syringe
  • Bubble Plastic!
  • Paper (To remove excessive colour)
  • (Rocks to hold the bubble plastic if there is some wind)

Step 2: Mix and Fill!

Start of by mixing the colours you want to use for this project.

I recommend to do this project outdoors, so you do not need to worry about the mess. :) If there is some wind, use rocks to hold the bubble plastic in place.

Sins the syringe will create holes in the bubbles, place the bubble plastic in a angle to easily insert the syringe from the top of your art! Do always insert the needle from the same direction to prevent unwanted leakage from the bubbles.

To fill a bubble you simply:

  • Fill the syringe with the wanted colour
  • Press with one finger on the air pocket you want to fill, so the air moves to the top where you are going to insert the syringe.
  • Insert the syringe and then press on the whole bubble to remove all air.
  • Then fill the bubble with the colour from the syringe.
  • Slightly overfill the bubble, but not to much... You will need some practise! :)

If any air is still trapped:

  • Remove the syringe.
  • Press on the bubble and help the air escape through the hole you created with the syringe, some colour will leak out as well!
  • Then refill the bubble through the same hole that you earlier created with the syringe.

Step 3: Make Your Pattern!

Then simply start creating your own pattern! Play around with different colours and shapes... Your imagination is the limit! :)

Happy crafting!

Unfortunately in some countries you can not buy syringes due to prevent drug uses. But if it is legal try searching the web! Often used to hobby cars, small mechanical build or hobby projects. :)

I would try this to play an excruciating, albeit beautiful, game of Connect Four.
