Introduction: DIY Easy Galaxy Nails!

About: I love to make everything! I love doing arts and crafts and working on cosplay in my free time and exploring with new things! I also love to post how-to instructions, so I hope you find my instructions useful!…

Do it yourself galaxy nails! This way is pretty easy and only took me about twenty minutes. Good luck!

Step 1: Step 1: Materials

Materials you will need:
-Purple, blue, white and black nail polish (for mine, I used SinFul Colours and Maybelline nail lacquer (because I couldn't find my black nail polish))
-Paint Brush, one with small bristles. If you don't feel comfortable washing your paint brush out with nail polish remover once finished, you can use the brush that comes with the nail paint, but that, I'm sure, makes it much more difficult.
-Cardboard or something else to mix and use the nail polish. I would not recommend using plates/dishes that you will use again because they are very hard to clean! Instead, use something recycled like a piece of cardboard or a can or even a piece of paper, just make sure it isn't too thin or the nail polish will go right through! Also, do not use a Styrofoam egg container!! I tried to mix the polish in one and it dissolved away!
-Silver glitter for extra sparkle, though this can be any light coloured glitter so white/gold will be okay
-Nail polish remover and Q-tips just in case of messes. If you are prone to making mistakes like me, these materials will help you remove the paint from the sides of your finger without getting everything messed up. Just pour the remover into the cap and dip the Q-tip in it. Then, rub the Q-tip over where the paint is very carefully, so the paint on your nail won't be disturbed.

Step 2: Step 2: Mixing

Here, you will mix the white, purple and blue nail polish on the cardboard (or whatever else you decided to use for mixing). Just pour a little bit of the colours and mix them together with a toothpick or the end of your paintbrush NOT with the bristles.

Step 3: Step 3: Colours

Put the purple, blue and black nail polish in a separate spot on your mixing sheet. Do not mix these colours yet. Don't put them too far away from the mixed colours in Step 2, though, because you will need to experiment and mix colours more, but don't put them too close so they bleed together.

Step 4: Step 4: Paint the Base

For this, I painted my nail blue with a few lines of purple. I did not wait for this base to dry, but you can if you want to! The reason I did not wait is because, if the paint is still wet, it mixes better on your nail and gives it that cool galaxy look.

Step 5: Step 5: Add Black

For this step, I painted around my nail black. Pretty simple, just be careful not to get too much on your finger! If needed, you can use the polish remover and the Q-tips here, but be careful!

Step 6: Step 6: Mixing on Nails

Here is when it gets a little confusing and really helps if you have had experience painting. What I did was combining the purple, blue and black and getting the black (on the sides of the nails) blended in more. You don't need to use a makeup brush or anything like that, just a regular paintbrush. Just dab the nail gently until you feel happy with it!

Step 7: Step 7: Add the Lighter Colours

Remember those colours you mixed in Step 1? Well let's hope they didn't dry out by now! Here, I used the lighter, mixing a little with the darker colours to help fading, to make those pretty clusters of stars and add a cooler space look.

Step 8: Step 8: Glitter

Hooray for glitter stars! The easiest way, I have found, was to pour the glitter into a cap (or on the cardboard, if you'd like) and pick some up by pinching it, then just sprinkle the glitter on your nails, as much as you'd like! Though, don't put too much or you won't be able to see the colours underneath. To make it extra cool, you could use different coloured glitter like blues and greens and whites, just to make your stars more unique!

Step 9: Step 9: Last Minute Mixing

For this step, which you can skip if you choose to, I just added more detail and made it neater. I mixed the left over purple and black and painted the edges again to make it darker around the edges and cover up some of the glitter.

Step 10: Step 10: Finished!

Hooray, you're done! As you can see with my nails, I tried a few different patterns, so don't be afraid to try new things! I actually tried to do this a few different ways.. this is my third time! So just find what makes you happy and do it!
For faster drying, run your nails under cold water from the sink, but make sure the water pressure is not too powerful or the paint could come off or warp.
