This tutorial is to build DIY Foam cutter .

The foam cutter is use to cut the foam board or thermacol board in perfect shape and size for other projects and craft.

it used a nichrome wire which heats when it connected to power supply.

Step 1: Requirements

............

  • Pencil
  • Soldering iron
  • Hot Glue Gun
  • Cardboard Box
  • Switch
  • Wire cutter and Stripper
  • Wire for connection
  • Nichrome Wire
  • Metal Nail

  • I have used 12V transformer , you can use 12V adapter instead of 12V transformer .

If you are using 12V transformer you need 4200uf capacitor and 4 diode for rectifier.

Step 2: Make the Base

  • Make a Squire of 4 pencil
  • Remove one Pencil from Squire
  • Glue both corner as shown in photo.

Step 3: Support the Base

  • make three parts of 4rth pencil
  • Glue two part at the corner of Base as shown in photo

Step 4: Insert Base in Box

  • Make hole at the top of Box
  • Make hole at the bottom so the pencil can go into the box as shown in photo
  • Glue the pencil inside the box as shown in photo.

Step 5: Add a Switch

  • Solder two wire at both terminal of Switch
  • Place the Switch inside the Box

Step 6: Connect Some Wires

  • Solder a Wire at the Nail
  • Glue it at the Top of Pencil Base
  • Glue the Wire so the Wire go inside the box
  • Also solder and Glue the 2nd Nail at Bottom

Step 7: Connect Circuit

  • Connect the Circuit as shown

I have used 12V transformer , you can use 12V adapter instead of 12V transformer .If you are using 12V transformer you need 4200uf capacitor and 4 diode for rectifier.

Step 8: Heating Element

  • Bound Nichrome Wire at Bottom Nail
  • Pass it into the Hole
  • Bound it at Upper Nail

Step 9: Here We Good to Go

Here WE go

  • Connect the Power Supply and cut the Foam board Sharp and Clean.
