Hello everyone, Pure Carbon here with another instructable. However first I would like to apologise to my followers for taking so long to post a new instructable. The reason. For this is I have been working nonstop to get my youtube channel up and running, where I will be making a video every week or two. On this channel I will be posting all kinds of videos relating to science, technology, DIY, etc.

Here is my first video:

It's not the best thing in the world but it can only get better from here, so go to my channel and subscribe to me here to help support and grow my channel so I can make many more videos in the future:

In this instructable I will be showing you guys how to make a GoPro lens cover using Sugru. If you don't know what Sugru is then I urge you to go to this link:

http://sugru.com/about

Or I can sum it up for you if you don't want to open up a new window. Essentially what sugru is is a putty that turns into a solid rubber over night. It can be used to fix things, make things, and make life a little easier. It's kind of like duck tape, but it acts as a more permanent fix. The only problem with it if you are comparing it to dictate is the amount of time it takes to dry which is about 24 hours.

So what I did was i took some sugru and molded it around my gopro lens to shape it then I let I dry to create my cover. I will be going over these steps in this instructable.

I hope you like this one, be sure to subscribe to me for many more instructables like this one coming soon, also if you like this then be sure to favorite it. Step 1:

Here's what you need:

Materials:

Tools:

  • Scissors

Step 2:

to make this you will use one pack of sugru, but if you want a different color then you will need more depending on the color you want. The color I made my cap was OD green. The recipe to make that color calls for 10% black and 90% yellow then you mix it up. It can be any color you want just make sure you have enough to cover the entire lens. I left a picture of all the different color combinations above so you should have no trouble.

Step 3:

Now you will take the plastic bag and cut a large square, roughly 3 to 4 inches wide. The measurement doesn't need to be exact just as long as it covers the entire lens when you put the Sugru on.

Step 4:

now you need to mold the sugru on to the lens and let it dry over night. If that doesn't work then you can get a size half inch piece of PVC and mold the sugru around it if the lens idea dosent work well. I found that the PVC method works better and is easier.

Step 5:

now take a needle and thread it with floss, this floss Will prevent the cap from being lost. Then at the top of the cap poke the needle through it. Pull a foot of floss through the hole and and cut a foot of floss off on the other side, you should now have a foot of floss on either side of the hole. Tie the two ends together and pull it tight. Then twist the two stands together and tie another knot an inch from the first one. Do this until the whole cord is secure. Once all that is done tie the string to the case at a reasonable length then cut off the accesses.

Step 6:

here I have a picture of the cord tied on to the case to give you an idea of where it should be tied to be the most convenient. I hope this instructable has inspired you to make your own.
