DIY: HOW TO TURN a BROOM INTO a GOPRO SELFIE POLE

Its quick, strong, waterproof,easy to make and most importantly its completely cost-free!!!

Step 1: WHAT YOU WILL NEED

YOU WILL NEED:

- Power Drill

- Saw

- Broom Handle

- Waterproof Wood Stain

- Paint Brush

- Pliers

- Rubber Handle

- GoPro Selfie Mount And A GoPro Nut (you can just pull one off another mount or buy one)

Step 2: PREPARING THE BROOM HANDLE

To prepare the broom handle a light sanding is recommended and if there is any paint or mud on it the you will have to remove it otherwise the varnish wont soak into the wood properly. Once you have got your broom handle clean you can go ahead and cut it to size before varnishing it with at least 2 coats (this will protect the wood from salt water and other various things). When the varnish has dried drill a hole about 1/2-1 inch directly down the center of the handle. Make sure the hole is slightly smaller than the screw on the bottom of the GoPro selfie mount.

Step 3: ADDING THE MOUNT AND HANDLE

Now get the GoPro selfie mount and carefully screw it into the end of the pole making sure it is straight. To put the rubber handle on either push it on as hard as you can but if the pole is too wide for the handle simply sand or plane the end down until you can fit the handle on nicely (if you have to do this I recommend that you re-varnish the part where you either sanded or planed the wood). If you want you can also go ahead and put a wrist tie from and old camera or something on the handle so you cant drop it.

Step 4: HOW TO ATTACH THE GOPRO ONTO THE POLE

To make sure that the lens are as inline with the pole as possible make sure that when you attach the GoPro to it, it looks like in the picture above. Now since the nut doesn't have a set position you will need to hold it as tight as possible with some pliers, so it doesn't move around, while you wind the screw in with the other hand. Once fastened tightly you can enjoy it!!!
