Hi there! This Instructable shows how I created these ombre shoes. I had been planning on dyeing them for a long time, but wasn't sure how to go about it. One day I found some spray dye at a craft store, and came up with this :)

Materials you'll need:

white or light colored shoes
dye in a spray bottle (I used Tumble dye)
spray bottle with water
paper towels
a grocery bag to protect your work surface (I also suggest doing this outside)

Step 1: Prepare the Shoes

First, fill the shoe with paper towels, which will protect the inside from getting dyed.
Use the spray bottle filled with water to completely soak the shoe. This will help the dye to appear more even and blended.

(Note: Be sure to read the instructions on the dye you are using, as there may be some additional steps you need to do here)

Step 2: Dye the Shoes

Start by spraying the first layer of dye onto the shoe. Spray from the front to about 3/4 of the way back, where the color will completely fade into white. Try to spray the dye as lightly and evenly as possible for this layer.
Next, take the water bottle and spray it over the dye, concentrating on evening out darker areas and on the back half of the shoe, smoothing out the color transition to white.
Use the dye again, this time concentrating on the front half of the shoe.
Use the water to keep everything blended.
Use the dye on the very front end of the shoe. Spray the dye as heavily as you can here, to help create an obvious ombre effect.
Use the water to blend.

You may need more or less steps than I've written here - you really just need to alternate between the dye and the water, gradually building up the color until it looks how you want it to.

Step 3: Set the Dye

Pick the shoe up the with the lighter end at the top.
Move the shoe out into bright sunlight where it can dry.
Remove the paper towels from the shoe.

Depending on the dye you're using, you may need to do additional steps to set the dye. Be sure to read the instructions. The dye I used sets using heat, so I left my shoes out in the sun (on a very hot day) to set the dye, and it worked for me.
