Introduction: DIY Rings - Galaxy, Diamond, Opal.. No Tools!

It's almost Christmas and I really wanted to create these series of Last minute DIY Christmas presents Instructables to give you ideas for unique personalised DIY Christmas gifts. Gifts people actually want!

In this tutorial I am creating DIY Easy rings and they are honestly super easy to make! No kidding! It takes no time to make these DIY rings, so there is no excuse not to make them :) Create your own DIY jewelry starting with a handmade ring! They only take 5 minutes to make! I actually own a fair bit of jewelry making tools(as I make and sell my jewelry), but for this video I assumed most of you guys don't have jewelry making stuff (as I guess not everyone wants to make jewelry all the time) and that's why I came up with an easy way of making these DIY rings with no professional jewelry making tools. I am using a wire cutter, but you can swap it for any old wire cutting tool or even heavy duty scissors! See the list of materials I used for the DIY rings.

If you have enjoyed this tutorial on how to make DIY easy rings, then please give it thumbs up and you can even subscribe to my YouTube channel for video tutorials ;). I'm sure if you decide to make one or all of these DIY rings and give them as presents, they will be much appreciated by your loved ones! I still think the best Christmas presents are the ones you make yourself anyway! :) And if you don't like someone, you can make them one too, just make sure it's messy and horrible and then make them wear it in front of lots of other people! Hahahahaha! (...that was my evil laugh :))) Just kidding!!!!! :) Life is about loving of course! :)))))

Step 1: You Can Watch My 3 Minute Video Tutorial Here :)

You can watch my video tutorial here or read written instructions in the next steps. Or both :)

Step 2: Materials Needed

DIY easy rings - materials:

You need some wire and I used:

Diamond ring, DIY galaxy ring, opal ring -silver plated copper wire - 18 gauge from Beadsmith

Glue and crystal ring -gold plated copper wire -18 gauge from Beadsmith

Turquoise -copper wire (20 gauge non tarnish from Palmers Metals)

Diamond ring- Swarovski crystal(45mm - SWAROVSKI CHATON CLEAR CUT CRYSTAL FOILED POINTED BACK )

A small AB crystal(3mm - pointed back)

black nail varnish

clear nail varnish

blue acrylic paint

fine blue iridescent glitter

fine white iridescent glitter

a paint brush handle to create cabochons on the rings

a nail correction pen instead of ring mandrel

nail file

clear tape

blue tack (you can use play dough or putty rubber)

wire cutters

Hot glue gun

Hot glue sticks

scissors

Step 3: Create the Wire Ring Base

Using the nail correction pen (instead of ring mandrel) wrap around it your wire 3 and half times. Then bend it and create a small loop using a paintbrush handle(or whatever else you decide to use) and make 3 loops, it will end up looking like a coil. Cut the rest of the wire off and using your two fingers, press it down to make it flat. Then take a nail file or sand paper and sand both ends of the wire to make is smooth. If you can, sand the inside of the small coil(cabochon) as well.

Step 4: Decorate Your Ring

If you decide to do the 'Diamond' ring, then get your paintbrush handle again, stick some blue tack on the tip of it and gently stick the top bit of the crystal to it. Grab your ring and stick a bit of clear tape to the bottom of the cabochon. Then slide the ring on to scissors to hold it while you do the next step. Get your hot glue and add a drop of it or so to the cabochon and wait a few seconds, then carefully press the crystal into it. You'll need to get the timing right - if you wait two long, the glue will be too hard, if you don't wait long enough it will be hard to attach the crystal :) So no pressure! ;) :) After you have pressed the crystal in, use your two fingers to press it in even more - or just adjust it. If you want to make the hold even more permanent, pull the crystal out of the glue after it's set and apply a little bit of a strong glue into the imprint, then add your crystal.

To make the Turquoise ring, instead of adding the crystal, paint it with two coats of blue acrylic paint and then two coats of clear nail varnish.

To make the Galaxy ring, paint it with two coats of black nail varnish, add a sprinkle of blue iridescent glitter while still wet and then paint over with two coats of clear nail varnish.

To make the Opal ring, paint it with two coats of clear nail varnish, add a sprinkle of white iridescent glitter while still wet and then paint over with two coats of clear nail varnish.

And the last one is same as the diamond ring, but I was using a much smaller crystal and it was an AB crystal and the cabochon was a lot wider too.

Step 5: Done!

I had a lot of fun making these and I hope you will have too!!! :)
