Welcome to this crafting adventure where we explore the art of making charming polymer clay rose earrings. In this tutorial, we'll go step by step through the process of creating these delicate floral accessories. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or a beginner, follow along as we transform basic materials into beautiful pieces of wearable art.

Supplies

  • A mold for shaping leaves (optional)
  • Red and green polymer clay
  • Metal earring posts and earring backs
  • Acrylic tube for flattening clay
  • Tools for working with clay (e.g., cutter, scriber)
  • Nail glue
  • Small circular cutter for petal shapes

Step 1: Video in Spanish But With English Subtitles!

It is not really necessary to watch the video since the process is in this instructable, but if you are curious to see the process in more detail, do not hesitate to watch it!

Step 2: Prepare the Red Polymer Clay

Begin by kneading the red polymer clay. Use the acrylic tube to flatten it evenly. Roll the tube over the clay, applying gentle pressure for uniform thickness. Now and then lift and turn the clay to prevent sticking.

Step 3: Cutting the Petals

With the cutter, create circles from the flattened clay for the rose petals.

Step 4: Creating the Petals

Lift the circles and carefully flatten each between your fingers.

Step 5: Initial Petal

Roll one of the circles on itself to form the initial rose petal.

Step 6: Adding More Petals

Flatten additional circles and position them around the first petal, attaching them firmly to the base.

Step 7: Creating the Rose

Ensure the tops are slightly looser to mimic the natural look of rose petals. Use tools to perfect shapes if needed.

Step 8: Leaves

Knead green clay, press it into a leaf mold (or shape by hand), and create veins using a tool.

Step 9: Attaching the Leaves to the Rose

Step 10: A Second Rose

Repeat the process to create another rose companion. Both roses are now ready to be baked according to your supplier's instructions. (Or perhaps a little less time than the supplier says since we are working with very thin layers and it can easily burn.)

Step 11: Baked

Step 12: Earring Posts

Use nail glue to secure them to earring posts. Allow them to dry completely.

Step 13: Letting Them Dry

I decided to use the leaf mold to ensure proper positioning while they dry.

Step 14: Ready to Be Used

And there you have it! These charming polymer clay rose earrings are now ready to adorn your jewelry collection. I hope this tutorial has been helpful and enjoyable.
