Introduction: DIY Rubber Band Pistol (Easy to Build)

About: Wassup people. I'm da Happy Mad Scientist and I'm a 18yr old [genius] that loves to make freakin cool stuff (eg. night-vision cameras and hydrogen generators). And hey, if said "stuff" goes BOOM, it'…

Hey guys how's it going?!?!?!?!? This is a super simple to make rubber band gun that I have made since I was little! It does not have any moving parts for a trigger mechanism (which makes it so easy to build). It is cheap to make and doesn't require any power tools! This will be a short instructable cause it is very not-complicated to build.

Step 1: Materials and Tools

Materials:

3/4" Plywood (Plywood is the way to do it cause it won't split along a grain)

Boiled Linseed Oil (Easy to apply -- only 10-minute wait period)

#35 Rubber bands

Tools:

A saw of some sort. (power or manual)

Files are handy.

Sandpaper.

Step 2: Sketch, Cut, and Shape.

1: Cut a manageable piece out of your sheet of plywood.

2: Sketch the basic shape of the pistol.

Barrel -- 1" thick. Can be cut to any length you desire but anywhere from 5"-15" works best.

Pistol Grip -- 1.5" thick. 4"- 6" tall depending on the size of your hand.

3/4" Thick (set by the thickness of plywood)

3: Cut out using any tools at your disposal that will get the job done. Don't forget the groove in the front that holds the rubber band in place.

4: Finish shaping and smooth any rough edges with a file.

Step 3: Surface Finishing.

Sand till smooth and wipe down with Boiled Linseed Oil. Let sit for 10 minutes and wipe off excess linseed oil. You can instead use stain, a poly coating, or paint. It's up to you.

Step 4: All Finished!!!

Now you have an accurate and powerful rubber band gun which is easy to load and shoot. Multiple rubber bands can be loaded and shot at once to make semi-auto or shotgun like effect. Enjoy!!!
