Introduction: DIY Sharps Container

About: How to: Medical Stuff.

This is a DIY Sharps Container that I just made, it's not a heavy-duty container but it will do the job until I can dispose of the sharps at a Sharps Disposal Facility. This project costs $1.25 to make, and that's just for the bottle.

Step 1: Step 1: Buying the Bottle

I used a 1L Milk Bottle which costs $1.25.

Step 2: Step 2: Preparing the Bottle

Firstly I emptied all the milk out of the bottle, then I took all of the stickers off. It is okay if there are some sticker residue left on the bottle. As this will be covered later on in the process.

Step 3: Step 3: Taping the Bottle

I used some electrical tape I had lying around, I taped the main part of the bottle, but left a part for the label. [I taped all around the bottle].

Step 4: Step 4: Label & More Taping

I created a label which I then printed, laminated and hot glued onto the bottle. Then taped around the side of it.

Step 5: Step 5: Cap

This is the part where sharps will enter into the bottle, I drew lines on the cap like a pizza then cut them using a utility knife. Be careful not to cut yourself, although if I did I have my First Aid Kit on hand.

Step 6: Step 6: Testing

I used a pencil instead of a needle/syringe, and once the sharps have been inserted into the bottle there is really no way you can get them out without ruining the bottle or cap.
