Introduction: DIY Variegated Thread
Materials:
-Plain white embroidery thread
-Sharpies
-Rubbing alcohol
-Dropper
-Something to color on
-Iron and something to iron on
Step 1: Prepare the Thread
Grab your thread and remove the paper thingies. Place it on a plastic bag or something else to protect your work surface.
Step 2: Color
Color segments of it until you reach the end.
Step 3: Add Alcohol
Carefully drip rubbing alcohol on your thread so the colors blend and let it dry.
Step 4: Heat Set
Grab the iron and something to iron on (I use an old T-shirt). Place the thread on whatever you're ironing and iron. I leave it for about 5 minutes so the color is set. Flip it over and repeat on the other side. Then wind it on a bobbin and you're done! Enjoy! ;)

Cool! Is there any risk of the sharpie bleeding out later, or is the heat set a total color lock?
