Introduction: DIY Wall Decals

If you are tired of seeing your boring bedroom walls, and you are unable to paint your walls, but still want to spice up your walls a bit, here is the DIY for you. While you can buy wall decals in stores, the big ones can be quiet expensive. Instead of buying wall decals you can make your own, and it doesn't have to be just a tree.

Step 1: The Materials

This DIY project is simple but requires a bit of work, but the final result is worth it.

The materials you will need are:

Electric tape - (this you can get at the dollar store, you can get 3 of them for just one dollar. I recommend using electric tape instead of duct tape, because they are easier to get off, and won't ruin your walls.)

Pencil

Eraser

Craft knife- (be sure to ask for your parents' help, if you are little.)

Step 2: Sketch Out Your Design

With a pencil lightly sketch out your reference for your design in your wall. Don't worry you will be able to erase this later.

Step 3: Prepare Your Tape

Since I am making leaves for my tree, I will be cutting the electric tape so it matches my reference sketch of the leaf that I made. After I have the areas covered, I will draw another leaf on top of the electric tape.

Step 4: Transferring Your Design to the Electric Tape.

I am continuing to form my leaf, by sticking more tape and drawing my design on top of the tape. After I am happy with the final shape of my leaf. I take my craft knife, and lightly go over my traced design. (Make sure to apply the right amount of pressure with the craft knife to cut out your design, so you walls won't be ruined.)

Step 5: Cutting Out Your Design

TIP :Always make sure to lightly cut out your design.

Step 6: Erase the Refrence Sketch

After you have your cut out design, erase the pencil sketch that you had earlier beneath your tape.

Step 7: Scraps

TIP: for the extra scraps of tape that you have, you can choose to stick them together to form a bigger piece of tape and cut it into other shapes and reuse it again. I used the scraps to create the trunk of my tree decal.

Step 8: Admire You Final Result

Yay! After repeating the process of creating your design, you have finally finished your wall decal. Now you can show your amazing masterpiece to your family and friends who come over. Soon they will be wanting to make their own wall decal.
