Introduction: DIY Lemon Sugar Scrub
Tis that time of the year....when you could use some exfoilation! :)
So here is an awesome scrub recipe..
You will need:
2 1/2 to 3 cups sugar
1/2 cup olive oil (can use coconut oil or almond oil)
1 to 2 tablespoons lemon juice
1 teaspoon orange zest
Step 1:
Mix sugar and oil in a bowl - Add a bit of oil at a time, you may not need all that is called for.
Just enough to make it moist but not runny.
(Unfortunately i mixed mine in the jar and it was a little difficult :) but can be done..)
Step 2:
Drizzle lemon juice over sugar and oil mix.
Add orange zest and pour mixture into a pint jar. In my case, it was already in the jar :)
Step 3:
And thats it! Tie some twine around the lid for an added touch and give to your besty! :))
Enjoy ya'll!

Hi,
try vitamin C serum..my sons face is as clear as can be. DIY vitamin C crystals and distilled water, a little glycerin, must be in brown bottle and kept in refrigerator...also great for fading age spots

hi, this worked very well but I was wondering if you had to keep it in the fridge and if it ever expires?

This is so cool!! I spent a long time trying to find a scrub that I could make with stuff I had at home. After I started making it I realized I didn't have any lemons or oranges. Should have looked before I started... Anyway, I substituted the oranges and lemons for vanilla and cinnamon and it smells awesome and works super well!! Thanks so much for making this!!!!!

Smells good enough to sell at a "lemonade stand" :). Try this, just a little more work, but worth it in my opinion. Before beginning, blend your sugar (dry) in your blender (make sure blender is completely clean and dry). This gives you "superfine" sugar, which feels nicer on your skin. Another extra step is that you could simmer on low, your citrus and oil, before mixing with your sugar, to get a more compete infusion of the oils, then add vitamin E capsule to your oil mixture after simmering, but before mixing with the sugar. Thanks for your "body yummy" instructable.

I've just had a go at making this and I can't smell the lemon. My mixture is getting bigger because when I add more lemon juice I have to add sugar to stop it being too runny. Don't understand why I can't smell the lemon :(

You could add lemon essential oil. Just make sure you use a type that is safe to use on your skin.

I used solid coconut oil. I blended it with a potato masher. This kept it thick, not liquid. I also added DoTerra Lemon essential oil. Smells and feels great!

You can add a capsule of Vitamin E oil. Just snip the casing or prick with needle and squeeze the Vitamin E out. Vitamin E is a natural preservative. Will definitely give a longer shelf life.

Does this need to be refrigerated, used immediately, or can it stay in the bathroom for a week or so?

It'll be fine in the bathroom for a week, or longer!... You can refrigerate it if you want to..it will defiantly last for quite a while in the fridge.
